Drones will be manufactured in Bangladesh with an investment of 5.5 billion BDT. A new company, ‘Sky Bees,’ will set up this drone factory at the BEPZA Industrial Estate in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Industrial City, located in Mirsarai Upazila, Chattogram. The primary focus of this factory is on export. Today, Sky Biz will sign a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).
Sky Bees will mainly manufacture powerful rotary-wing UAVs (drones) for firefighting purposes. Additionally, vertical take-off and landing drones, suitable for cinematography, mapping, and surveillance, will also be produced. According to the company’s plans, commercial drone production will begin early next year, with a target to export drones worth $169 million annually.
The lead entrepreneur behind this initiative is Jasim Ahmed. He has already established two companies, Global Levels Bangladesh Limited, a Spain-Bangladesh joint venture, and Jinkiu Global Textile Bangladesh Limited, a China-Bangladesh joint venture. Now, he is investing in the production of modern UAVs (drones).
According to Jasim Ahmed, this project represents many visionary and confident young people. His drones will primarily be used for civilian purposes, such as pesticide spraying, firefighting, delivery services, disaster relief, and rescue operations. The initial plan includes producing and exporting 7,314 drones annually.
